Dixon Place co-presents the return of Atlas Circus Company with their newest full-length piece, LUCKY. Atlas reinvents American circus with a refreshing combination of theatre, circus arts and dance.

LUCKY will play six performances only - August 1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th, 15th, and 16th at 7:30 PM - at Dixon Place (161A Chrystie Street). Tickets for LUCKY are $22 in advance, $25 at the door, and $18 for students and seniors. For tickets and further information please visit www.dixonplace.org/performances/lucky or call 866-811-4111.

Told through acrobatic slapstick and inventive circus skills, LUCKY is the story of a man who can't stop - literally - falling on his face. As this one hapless young man attempts to navigate the physical pitfalls of the hustle and bustle of city life, LUCKY must also attempt to find his way through the metaphorical challenges of discovering who he is and what he is meant to do. Atlas Circus Company infuses the classic American circus art form with meaningful narrative, creating an ultimately hilarious and heartwarming theatrical experience with LUCKY.

Co-founded by Noah Dach and Henry Evans, Atlas Circus Company seeks to cultivate the next generation of American circus. They create and produce modern circus performances with an emphasis on narrative that embodies the complexity of the human experience, combining elements of dance, theatre, magic, and circus techniques.

What began as a focus to expand their curriculum as undergraduate theatre, dance, and business students at Muhlenberg College, Atlas Circus Company has emerged as the pair's effort to create works that connect with audiences on a social, political, and personal level while inspiring well-rounded performers with the ability to combine skills from a multitude of artistic genres. Through technical training, embodied practice, and collaborative performance, Atlas Circus Company brings their third full-length work, LUCKY, to Dixon Place.

Co-created and directed by Henry Evans and Tommy McCarthy, LUCKY features performances by Avery Deutsch, Russel Norris, Leo Abel, and Mr. Evans. Original music is by David Evans, with choreography by Tyler Holobaski. Costumes are by Rebecca Bitondo, with lighting design by Alex Womer, and projection animation by Koren Harpaz. Annie Correa is the stage manager and Cody Johnson is the production coordinator.

The Dixon Place Lounge is open before and after the show. Proceeds from the bar directly support Dixon Place's artists and mission.

Dixon Place is located at 161A Chrystie Street (between Rivington and Delancey), in Manhattan's Lower East Side (By subway: B/D to Grand, F to 2nd Ave, J/Z to Bowery, 6 to Spring St, M to Essex St).

This Dixon Place commission is made possible, in part, with public funds from the National Endowment for the arts, NY State Council on the Arts, with the support of Gov Andrew Cuomo and the NY State Legislature and NYC Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.

An artistic incubator since 1986, Dixon Place is a Bessie and Obie Award-winning non-profit institution committed to supporting the creative process by presenting original works of theater, dance, music, puppetry, circus arts, literature and visual art at all stages of development. Presenting over 1000 creators a year, this local haven inspires and encourages diverse artists of all stripes and callings to take risks, generate new ideas and consummate new practices. Many artists, such as Blue Man Group, John Leguizamo, Lisa Kron, David Cale, David Drake, Deb Margolin and Reno, began their careers at DP. In addition to emerging artists, Dixon Place has been privileged to present established artists such as Mac Wellman, Holly Hughes, Justin Bond, Karen Finley, Kate Clinton and Martha Wainwright. After spawning a salon in her Paris apartment in 1985, founding Artistic Director Ellie Covan pioneered the institution in her NYC living room for 23 years. Covan was a recipient of a Bessie, a New York Dance and Performance Award and a Bax10 Award for her service to the community. Dixon Place received two Obie Awards, and an Edwin Booth Award for Excellence in Theater. Dixon Place has organically developed and expanded into a leading professional, state-of-the-art facility for artistic expression.
