Playwright Seth Moore's new play, The Man With America Skin, which explores the effects of post-traumatic stress in two unlikely companions, will perform tonight, August 16 through August 26 at The American Theatre of Actors (314 W. 54th Street NYC) as a part of the second annual Araca Project.

The production team says about the show: "Somewhere in the midst of a wasted Americana, a paranoid artist has spent a year (or was it nine?) alone, trying to pull himself together after leaving his family. The arrival of a soldier whose back is covered in shrapnel scars shakes up his world and begins to pull him from the depths. Together, they convert the boarded up house into a camera obscura, watching the world through a bullet hole, and healing each other."

Moore began developing this play as an undergrad at the University of Michigan, where it earned him his second Hopwood Award for Dramatic Writing. He also met his collaborators at Michigan: producer/director Alex Bisker, producer/production manager Stephanie Shechter and production designer Justin Lang. Nathan Lehmann and Leigh Adel-Arnold will co-produce this Off-Broadway run. In addition to performances of America Skin, the run will feature "Late Night" shows following each performance. These acts will include improvisers from The PiT, a new interactive dance piece, the band The Chewing Gum Tree, and comedian Myq Kaplan.

"I've worked on a variety of shows here in New York," Alex says, "but The Man With America Skin will be my first full-scale production. We couldn't be more excited to show this moving, beautiful piece; [The Araca Project] is just a great opportunity for young artists to put up new work like this, shows that really have something to say."
