NYTW Now Offering $25 Tickets to First Two Previews of All Upcoming Shows

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) has announced a new CheapTix program, which will make all single tickets to the first two performances of every NYTW production available to the general public at $25. The program will kick off with FONDLY, COLLETTE RICHLAND, the first production of the New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) 2015/16 Season. FONDLY, COLLETTE RICHLAND begins previews on Friday, September 11, 2015 and officially opens on Monday, September 28, 2015 at New York Theatre Workshop (79 E. 4th Street New York, NY 10003) for a limited engagement through Sunday, October 18, 2015. With theatre ticket prices rising to the point of excluding many in our community from experiencing the power of inventive theatrical productions, NYTW is committed to ensuring access for as many in our community as possible. At the first two performances of every NYTW production, all single tickets will be available to the general public for just $25. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis, online at NYTW.org or by phone from the NYTW Box Office at 212-460-5475 (Monday-Friday Noon-6pm). Standard ticketing fees apply.

Additionally, a $25 day-of rush ticket will be available for young people, seniors, artists and Lower East Side residents. Rush tickets are subject to availability and are sold cash-only at the box office, limit two per person. Proper identification is required for all rush tickets. Young people (ages 25 and under) and seniors (ages 65+) may present an ID indicating date-of-birth; Artists may present an ID and a program or union card; Lower East Side residents may present an ID that includes your address.

While eating a quiet dinner at home, Mr. and Mrs. "Fritz" Fitzhubert (along with an uninvited guest) are summoned through a mysterious tiny door in their living room. On the other side, they find themselves in a phantasmagorical Alpen hotel where forgotten religions seep in through the cracks in the walls. Lost relatives, conniving employees, and chatty society ladies awaken their mysterious ancient selves and lead them on perilous hikes that will leave their lives forever altered.

NYTW's Obie and Lortel award-winning company-in-residence Elevator Repair Service, best known for their innovative adaptations of American literary classics like The Sound and the Fury, The Select (The Sun Also Rises) and Gatz, breaks new ground with the world premiere of FONDLY, COLLETTE RICHLAND by Sibyl Kempson, its first collaboration with a living playwright. Kempson, an NYTW Usual Suspect, and the company create a richly detailed and darkly comedic world brought to vivid life by an unforgettable ensemble under the direction of ERS Artistic Director John Collins.

The ensemble cast features Laurena Allan, Kate Benson, Lindsay Hockaday, Maggie Hoffman, Mike Iveson, Vin Knight, April Matthis, Greig Sargeant, Kaneza Schaal, Susie Sokol, Lucy Taylor and Ben Jalosa Williams.

The production features scenic design by David Zinn; costume design by Jacob A. Climer; additional costumes by David Zinn; lighting design by Mark Barton; sound design by Ben Williams; and original compositions by Mike Iveson.

FONDLY, COLLETTE RICHLAND is a co-production of New York Theatre Workshop and Elevator Repair Service, and was commissioned in part by the Walker Art Center (Minneapolis, MN) where it received preview performances in May 2013. Developed with support from The Playwrights' Center, New York Theatre Workshop, The Performing Garage, and Abrons Arts Center.

As previously announced, New York Theatre Workshop's 2015/16 season will also include the world premiere of LAZARUS, by David Bowie and Enda Walsh (ONCE, Tony Award) inspired by the novel The Man Who Fell to Earth by Walter Tevis, and directed by Ivo van Hove (Hedda Gabler, More Stately Mansions, Obie Awards); the New York premiere of RED SPEEDO written by Lucas Hnath (The Christians) and directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz (Hollow Roots); and HADESTOWN by celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and inventive two-time OBIE award-winning director Rachel Chavkin (Three Pianos, Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812).

Elevator Repair Service is a New York City-based company that creates original works for live theater with an ongoing ensemble. Since its founding in 1991 by John Collins and a group of actors, ERS has built a body of work that has earned it a loyal following and made it one of New York's most highly-acclaimed experimental theater companies. The company's work was most recently seen at the Public Theater with Arguendo in fall 2014 (Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Projection Design), and for the New York premiere in 2010 of Gatz, and the return engagement in 2012. Their work has been seen across America, Europe, Australia and Asia, and they have been the recipient of many awards including a 2012 OBIE Award for Sustained Excellence; The Foundation for Contemporary Arts Theater Grant; the Theatre Communications Group's Peter Zeisler Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement; and (for Gatz) Elliot Norton Awards for Outstanding Director and Outstanding Visiting Production and Lucille Lortel Awards for Alternative Theatrical Experience and Best Director.
