Mauricio Cedeno To Direct International Cast of THE PAPARAZZI

Algonquin Theater Productions announces that legendary Mexican director Mauricio Cedeno will direct the February 28th International Presentation of the new Al Tapper musical "The Paparazzi", held at the historic Ellington Room on West 43rd Street, Both U.S. and Mexican actors will join together to sing the songs as Algonquin makes plans to produce the show in both English and Spanish in 2019. Cedeno directed "The Paparazzi" in the fall of 2018 in Guadalajara. Algonquin is producing "The Paparazzi" under the project name Broadway Without Borders. The event on the 28th is a chance for audiences to see the Mexican cast and the New York cast together for one night, singing the songs in both English and Spanish. David Wolfson is the musical director for the evening, which starts at 7:30pm.

Cedeno is a theatrical icon in Mexico, winning several awards including The Theatrical Merit Award in 2016. His vast experience in musical theater has led him to produce and direct more than 30 shows. He directed "Rent", which became the first Broadway franchise ever produced in Guadalajara. He has directed "Amor Pop", produced by A|B productions in 2008 and 2018. This is the third time he has teamed up with Algonquin to produce musicals in Mexico. In 2012 he directed the Al Tapper musical "Sessions" (winning Best Show and Best Director) and a few years later he directed Tapper's "National Pastime". That show had several productions and won six awards, including Best Producer and Best Director, For his work like an actor he has 9 nominations and 7 awards. He is the only artist in Guadalajara to win the award for Best Actor, Best Producer and Best Director.
