For the fourth year in a row presents the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra last year's winner of the contest Young Classic. This year we can present two prize winners. In 2013, there were two young musicians who shared on the 1. the price: the jury as Anne Camilla Furre Thommesen (b. 1993) and the soprano Joan Cross break Askeland (b. 1988). Furre Thommesen has chosen to play the first two rates of William Walton's gripping bratsjkonsert, while korsbrekke Askeland offers both Czech and Italian bel canto opera.
Johan Halvorsen's fateful 2. Symphony, with just the name Fatum (fate), derived from the same year (1923-24) as his beloved theatre music for the journey to the Christmas star. In this Symphony we meet the symphonic drama of a caliber that would indicate that the work was performed more often than it actually is. We also get an example of Halvorsen's mastery of pastiche-its shape in his Suite Ancienne, a charming collection of retrospective karakterstykker for Orchestra.
