Virginia Rep announces the return of Always…Patsy Cline featuring Debra Wagoner and Terri Moore and the full band from the Hanover Tavern stage. The show will reopen on August 10 at the Willow Lawn stage, 1601 Willow Lawn Drive, and will run through September 16.

Written and originally directed by Ted Swindley, Always... Patsy Cline is more than a tribute to the legendary Virginia singer and country music icon who died tragically at age 30 in a plane crash in 1963. The musical play is based on a true story about Cline's friendship with a fan from Houston named Louise Seger. Complete with down-home country humor, true emotion, and even some audience participation, the show includes many of Patsy’s unforgettable hits such as "Crazy," "I Fall to Pieces," "Sweet Dreams," and "Walking After Midnight"…27 songs in all.

Under the direction of Joe Pabst (directing credits include The Odd Couple, Greater Tuna, and Driving Miss Daisy at Barksdale Hanover Tavern) Always…Patsy Cline set box office records at Hanover Tavern earlier this year. Debra Wagoner is known both locally and nationally for her portrayal of Patsy Cline having played the role at Swift Creek Mill Theatre, Company of Fools in Hailey, Idaho, and at the Ohio Shakespeare Festival. Her role at Swift Creek earned her both a Phoebe Award from the Richmond Times-Dispatch and a Pollak Prize for Excellence from Richmond Magazine. Other recent credits include Nunsense and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with Barksdale Theatre.

Terri Moore joins Debra again this August as Patsy’s fan and friend, Louise Seger. Terri last worked with Barksdale Theatre seventeen years ago in Our Town. Over the past 38 years, she has worked in theatre, voiceover, and film and won the Bare Bones International Independent Film Festival award for Best Actress in a Feature Film for her role as Nora Machiavelli in Paladin Pictures’ When Love Walks In.

Musical Director, H. Drew Perkins, is also no stranger to the Virginia Rep stage. He is currently in the music ensemble of Spring Awakening and performed and served as Musical Director of Blue Ridge Mountain Christmas and the Smoke on the Mountain trilogy.
