McLean Community Players Hold Auditions For THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST 9/25-10/10

Earnest has five male characters: two in their 20s, and three in their 50s-60s. There are four female roles: two ages 18-25 and two in their 50s-60s. The auditions are cold readings from the script; a British accent is preferred. No parts are pre-cast. This production will be directed by Carol Strachan and produced by Terry Yates.

Set in England in the 1890s, Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest follows Jack, a country bachelor who goes by the name Earnest when he visits the city, and his friend Algernon, who seeks adventure by becoming Earnest in the country. Jack proposes to Gwendolen Fairfax, while Algernon, posing as Jack's wicked brother Earnest, falls in love with Jack's ward, Cecily.

When: Monday, July 27, and Tuesday, July 28, 7:15 pm

Where: McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean, Va.

Performance dates: September 25-October 10, 2009, with two matinees
