Required Cast Meeting – July 25
First Rehearsal – August 1
Rehearsals will run primarily Monday-Thursday evenings, with some possible weekend rehearsals.
Cast tech weeks (October 3-6, October 9-13), performances (October 14, 15, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30), a brush-up rehearsal (October 19 or 20) and a production strike (October 30 after the final performace) will be held at Slayton House Theater in Columbia, MD and are required dates for show participation. No conflicts will be accepted for any of those dates. An agreement will be issued for all individuals cast to sign abiding to these days and times.
We ask that you please refrain from auditioning if you are already fully committed to another project that conflicts with the aforementioned rehearsal, performance, and strike dates. Individuals with any major projects overlapping past August 12th will not be considered for this production.
ALL ROLES OPEN; Non-Union/Non-Paid
We are in search of a multi-talented comic cast of actors, singers, and dancers for this exciting musical production. We will be casting 17-18 individuals.
Currently casting the following roles:
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein – Male, age 30s. Brilliant brain surgeon, professor and grandson of mad scientist Dr. Victor Von Frankenstein. Vocal range: Bb one octave below middle C to G above middle C. Tap dancing a plus.
The Monster – Male, age indeterminate. Played by a bigger man – the bigger the better. The misunderstood creation of Dr. Frankenstein. Vocal range: Ab one octave below middle C to F above middle C. Also must be able to emit howling/monster/grunting sounds. Knowledge of tap dancing a plus.
Igor – Male, age 20s/30s. Frederick’s faithful, bright-eyed, eager servant and friend–with a hunchback. Vocal range: D below middle C to F above middle C. Must be able to speak with a Cockney accent.
Inga – Female, age 20s. Frederick’s bubbly, naive young assistant. Sexy, attractive. A resident of Transylvania. Vocal range: G# below middle C to A above the treble staff. Yodeling and tap dancing a plus. Must be able to speak with a German accent.
Elizabeth Benning – Female, age 30s. Self-loving, “madcap”, boisterous fiancé of Frederick. Vocal range: F# below middle C to F#, top line of the treble staff. Must be able to belt.
Frau Blücher (whinney..!) – Female, age 30s/40s. Intense, stern housekeeper of Frankenstein estate. Former lover of Victor Frankenstein. Vocal range: F## (G natural) below middle C to B, third line treble staff. Must be able to speak with German or Romanian accent.
Inspector Hans Kemp – Male, age 40s/50s. Head of the police in Transylvania, with a wooden arm and leg. Justice-driven. A one octave below middle C to F above middle C. Must be able to speak with a German or Romanian accent.
Ensemble/Swing cast, 5 male and 5 female, with plenty of featured roles, lot of lines and singing, including a barbershop quartet. We are looking for people with strong dance/movement training. Ability to speak with accents a plus. This group will portray gravediggers, villagers, medical students, passengers, mad scientists and various supporting roles, which may include:
Blind Hermit – Male, age 40s/50s Lonely, poor, blind town hermit longing for a friend. Vocal range: Bb one octave below middle C to Db just above middle C.
Dr. Victor Von Frankenstein – Male, age 40s/50s. Frederick’s infamous grandfather. Vocal range: C# below middle C to G# above middle C.
Ziggy – Male, age 20s/30s. Well-intentioned village idiot. Vocal range: F below middle C to F above middle C.
