The Gamm Theatre Announces Auditions for Season 30 (2014-2015)

PAWTUCKET, RI (March 27, 2014) - The Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre (The Gamm) will hold auditions for its 30th Season as follows: Equity Principal Auditions will be held on Friday May 2 and Sunday May 4 from 10 am-1:30 pm and 2 pm-5:30 pm. Equity members without appointments will be seen throughout each audition day, as time permits. Non-Equity performers may also audition. Audition slots, however, are limited. Auditions will take place at The Gamm Theatre, 172 Exchange St., Pawtucket, RI.

The Gamm is looking to cast various roles in the following plays of the 2014-2015 Season, which starts performances in September and runs through May. The following roles are available:

GROUNDED by George Brant, directed by Judith Swift

Rehearsals begin August 19, 2014. Runs September 4-September 28, 2014


Roles

Pilot:Female, Late 20s early 30s. Tough, acutely sensitive. Military bearing and carriage. A warrior and a mom.

This is a one-woman show. Actor must have incredible command and stage presence.

HEDDA GABLER by Henrik Ibsen, directed by Tony Estrella

Rehearsals begin September 29, 2014. Runs October 23-November 30, 2014

Roles

Hedda Gabler is cast.

Tesman: 30ish. Hedda's husband, an academic, NOT merely a fop or pushover. Smart.

Eilert Lovborg: 30ish. Incredible mind, an intellectual and debased alcoholic in recovery. Desperately hanging on.

Thea Elvsted: Late 20s/30. Sensitive, compassionate on the outside but brave tough beneath.

Judge Brack: 40s/50. Virile, smart, cocksure and manipulative. A man of means and barely subdued power.

Aunt Julia: 50s/60. Tesman's beloved aunt. Doting and generous, but keen-eyed.

Berta: 40's/50 The Tesman's maid. The faithful and emotional lifelong servant.

MORALITY PLAY adapted by Tony Estrella from the novel by Barry Unsworth, directed by Tyler Doborowsky

Rehearsals begin December 2, 2014. Runs January 1-February 8, 2015

Roles Nicholas: 20-30. A young runaway monk-turned-actor. Smart, articulate, conflicted.
Martin Bell is cast.
Stephen: Tough, big, former soldier-turned-actor, likes his booze and a good argument.
Margaret: Tough but tender, Stephen's paramour. Cleans and helps organize the troupe.
Springer: Teenage member of troupe. Enthusiastic, emotional. Needs to sing.
Straw: 30-40. Veteran actor. Sober and practical.
Tobias: 40+. Oldest member of troupe.

Ensemble: Requires male and female actors ranging from 20-60 for a variety of roles. All actors must have range, be capable of playing several parts, and move well. This is a play about a medieval troupe of actors. It is vigorous and very physical. Special skills a plus, including singing, musicians, jugglers, circus skills etc.

HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES by John Guare, directed by Fred Sullivan Jr.

Rehearsals begin Feb 9, 2015. Runs March 5 - April 5, 2015

Roles Artie Shaughnessy: 40-50. Desperate, confident, charming, flaky, needs to sing. A zoo keeper with dreams.
Ronnie Shaughnessy: 20. Artie's son. Angry and crazily brave. Bananas Shaughnessy: 40s. Artie's wife. Fragile. fighting mental illness.
Bunny Flingus: 30-40s. Artie's paramour. Pretty, Pink, Electric.
Corinna Stroller: 30. A bit obnoxious, a C-movie star.
Billy Einhorn: 40s-50. Artie's old friend and movie producer.
Three Nuns: Various ages and sizes. Must be physical and have great comic timing.

MARIE ANTOINETTE by David Adjmi, directed by Rachel Walshe

Rehearsals begin April 6. Runs April 30 - May 31, 2015

Roles

Marie Antoinette: Late 20s-30ish.Frail and powerful. Unattractive and gorgeous, a flake and a burgeoning thinker. She is revolutionized.

Louis XVI: 30. Marie's husband. Still a boy in many ways.

Yolande De Polignac: Marie's false friend

Therese de Lamballe: Marie's true friend

Axel Fersen: The opposite of Louis, a family friend...and more?

Mr. & Mrs. Sauce: Peasants, salt-of-the-earth types.

Aside from Marie and Louis, all actors must be versatile and be capable of performing multiple roles.

Each performer will be allotted a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 5 minutes. We ask that all performers prepare a 1-2 minute monologue of their choice. Equity Performers only may choose to read from the script(s). The Gamm will provide sides and a reader. Callbacks for individual plays will be announced at a later date.

Please also provide a copy of your headshot/resume at the time of your audition. Two copies of each play will be available at Stage Source's Boston office, 88 Tremont St., Ste. 714, Boston, Mass., at least 10 days before the audition for Equity members' perusal. Copies will also be available at the auditions.
