MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS - Eastbound Theatre

Eastbound Theatre, a division of the Milford Arts Council, announces auditions for the first show of its 22nd season, the hilarious comedy Moonlight and Magnolias, by Ron Hutchinson, directed by Richard Mancini.

Performances will be October 2nd through October 18th, 2015.

Auditions will be held on August 11th and 12th at 7:30 pm at the Margaret Egan Center, 35 Mathew Street in Milford. Additionally, interested actors who may be unable to attend those audition times should contact the Producer, Ann Baker,
abaker0728@gmail.com to set up an alternate time.

Roles are available for 3 male actors and 1 female. Ages range from late 30s to 50s (flexible), and actors will be asked to read sides from the script.

Synopsis:

Hollywood, 1939, and producer David O. Selznick has shut down production of Gone with the Wind due to concerns about the script. Frustrated by the flurry of poor adaptations, he reaches out to Ben Hecht, referring to him as “the greatest re-writer.” After firing the film’s director and pulling Victor Fleming from the set of The Wizard of Oz, Selznick finds that Hecht has never read the original novel.

Over five days, the three men are kept to a diet of bananas and peanuts. Aided by one painfully dutiful secretary, the three creative minds grapple with the novel’s social issues as they hammer out a working screenplay for one of the most successful and beloved films of all time.
