Audition Notice Jesus Christ Superstar, Lyrics by Tim Rice, Music by Andrew Lloyd-Webber Company/Venue: Wimberley Players, Wimberley Playhouse 450 Old Kyle Rd., Wimberley, 78676 Production Dates: July 8th - July 31, 2016, Fri/Sat curtain at 7:30, Sun at 2:30 Director: Josh Miller Audition Dates: Thursday, March 3rd @ 7:00pm at Texas State University Theatre Building, Room 206 Saturday, March 5th @2pm at Wimberley Playhouse 450 Old Kyle Road, Wimberley TX 78676 Monday, March 7th @7:00pm at Highland Park Baptist Church 5206 Balcones Dr. Austin, TX 78731 Callbacks will be held @7:00pm on Tuesday, March 8th at the Wimberley Playhouse Process: All male actors are expected to prepare song from a musical in a similar genre, or a rock song. Those auditioning for Jesus and/or Judas should select a song that highlights their upper register. All female actors should prepare ballads only, 30-60 seconds in length. Female actors will also be considered for male roles. Sheet music or digital files only please, no a capella or CD auditions will be permitted. An accompanist will be provided. What began as a concept album, Jesus Christ Superstar morphed into an international sensation. Over fifty years later, the musical still excites audiences and actors alike with its challenging vocals and powerful story. Based loosely on the Gospels account of the final days of Jesus Christ, the musical is as much a retelling of these last days as it is an examination of the character of Judas, the dangers of celebrity, and the pitfalls of fame.
