The Gamm Theatre Announces Auditions for Season 31 (2015-2016)

The Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre (The Gamm) will hold auditions for its 31st season as follows: Equity Principal Auditions will be held on Saturday April 4 and Monday April 6 from 10 am–1:30 pm and 2 pm-5:30 pm. Equity members without appointments will be seen throughout each audition day, as time permits. Non-Equity performers may also audition. Audition slots, however, are limited. Auditions will take place at The Gamm Theatre, 172 Exchange St., Pawtucket, RI.

The Gamm is looking to cast various roles in the following plays of the 2015-2016 Season, which starts performances in September and runs through May. The following roles are available:

A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams, directed by Tony Estrella

Rehearsals begin August 18, 2015. Runs September 17- October 18, 2015

Roles:

Blanche Dubois has been cast.

Stella Kowalski: Her younger sister. 20’s – early 30’s.

Stanley Kowalski: Stella’s brutish husband. Fierce, animal.

Harold Mitchell (Mitch): Friend of Stanley’s. Big, tough but openhearted.

Steve Hubbel: 40-50, Stanley’s friend and neighbor.

Eunice Hubbel: His wife. Friend to Stella.

Pablo Gonzales: 30’s, Hispanic. Stanley’s poker buddy.

Young Collector: 20’s. Earnest. Outmatched by Blanche.

The Rant by Andrew Case, directed by Tyler Dobrowsky

Rehearsals begin October 21, 2015. Runs November 12 –December 13, 2015

Roles:

Lila Mahnaz: 30ish. Of Persian descent. Tough. Smart. An Internal Affairs Investigator.

Denise Reeves: 40’s -50ish. African-American. Emotionally complex, tough. Mother of a murdered son.

Alexander Stern: 40’s. Caucasian. A Tabloid reporter. Unsentimental but smart, dogged, and professional.

Charles Simmons: Early 30’s African-American. Police Officer. Strong but pulled in many directions.

Grizzly Mama by George Brant directed by Rachel Walshe

Rehearsals begin December 15, 2015. Runs January 7-February 7, 2016

Roles:

Deb Marshall: 40’s to early 50’s, a suburban mom a bit unhinged by the death of her mother.

Hannah Marshall: 17, Deb’s daughter, a hostile outer shell masking a sensitive and uncertain interior.

Laurel: 18, next-door neighbor to the Marshalls, a celebrity teen in need.

A Skull in Connemara by Martin McDonagh, directed by Judith Swift

Rehearsals begin Feb 2, 2016. Runs February 25 – March 27, 2016

Roles:

Mick Dowd: 50’s. The local gravedigger. May or may not have killed his wife.

MaryJohnny Rafferty: 60-70. Local gossip.

Mairtin Hanlon: 20’s. Young village ne’er-do-well. Assists Mick in the Graveyard.

Thomas Hanlon: 30’s. Mairtin’s older brother. A policeman.

A Winter’s Tale by William Shakespeare, directed by Fred Sullivan, Jr.

Rehearsals begin March 22, 2016. Runs April 21 – May 29, 2016

Roles:

Leontes and Hermione are cast.

Polixenes: King of Bohemia, Friend to Leontes. Then not. 40’s Noble.

Camillo: His erstwhile friend and loyal right hand.

Paulina: Fierce critic of Leontes. A powerhouse. 30’s-40’s.

Perdita: Daughter of Leontes and Hermione. Early 20’s. Beautiful, smart.

Florizel: Prince of Bohemia. Early 20’s. Kind, callow.

Autolycus: A clown and a con man. Must be able to sing, dance and have excellent comic timing.

Shepherd: 50’s Perdita’s savior and ‘adopted’ father. Solid. Compassionate, Funny

Clown: 30’s. His son.

Each performer will be allotted a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 5 minutes. We ask that all performers prepare a 1-2 minute monologue of their choice. Equity Performers only may choose to read from the script(s). The Gamm will provide sides and a reader. Callbacks for individual plays will be announced at a later date.

Please also provide a copy of your headshot/resume at the time of your audition. Two copies of each play will be available at Stage Source's Boston office, 15 Channel Center, Ste. 103, Boston, Mass., at least 10 days before the audition for Equity members' perusal. Copies will also be available at the auditions.

Artistic Director Tony Estrella will be attending all auditions. Minimum weekly salary for equity actors is $386. Minimum weekly salary for equity stage managers is $462.
