DISNEY'S 101 DALMATIANS KIDS - The Grove Theatre and Academy

The Grove Theatre and Academy announces auditions for Disney’s 101 Dalmatians Kids, which is running on weekends from December 6th to December 14th. Auditions will be held at the theatre on Saturday, September 6th from noon to 6 pm. Call backs are on Monday, September 8th from 6 – 8 pm by invitation. Director: Tammy Colbert.

What to Bring to Auditions

Prepare approximately 16 bars of any song.

Prepare a one minute monologue or be ready to do a cold reading.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN – DISNEY'S 101 DALMATIANS KIDS

CRUELLA DE VIL (lead) female, age 30-50, should be a very strong actor, singer and dancer. She should be a natural leader with dramatic flair who is not afraid to be mean and bossy.

ROGER (lead) male age, 16+, is a songwriter and owner of the Dalmatians. He is soft spoken, yet confident, and displays leadership in a quiet and composed way, contrary to frenetic Cruella. English accent a plus.

ANITA (lead) female, age 16+, is the sweet, nurturing owner of the Dalmatians and a painter. This role requires a strong actor with a good singing voice. English accent a plus.

HORACE and JASPER (lead) males, age 16+, provide comic relief a la Abbott & Costello or Laurel & Hardy. They should be good singers and strong actors. Must have good comedic timing and be able to work well as a team. English accents a plus.

CANINE NARRATORS (lead) female and male, age 16+, should have loud speaking voices and good diction. They should have a good memory for lines and more complicated blocking. They must have a strong stage presence. Come off as a funny radio host. English accent a plus.

PONGO and PERDITA (lead) male and female, age 16+, are the Dalmatian parents. These parts require good actors, but not necessarily strong singers. English accents a plus.

SERGEANT TIBBS age 16+ is the army cat who rallies the London Dogs to rescue the Dalmatian Puppies. English accent a plus.

THE LONDON DOGS (lead), age 10-16, are the ethnic dogs who help rescue the Dalmatian Puppies from Cruella. They should be strong singers and dancers. English Dogs, Scottish Terriers, French Poodles, Chihuahua Dogs

PATCH, LUCKY, PENNY, PEPPER these are the lead Dalmatian Puppies with speaking lines, there are the often funny and spirited puppies of Pongo and Perdita. Should be at least 10 years old, outgoing, read well and have excellent dictation. Strong singers and dancers only! English accent and prior theatre exp a plus!

NANNY (lead), age 30+, is the warm yet outspoken housekeeper to Roger and Anita. This role requires a strong speaking voice, British accent a plus. .

POLICE OFFICER (lead), age 16+, arrests the villains at the end of the show. Requires a strong speaking voice, but doesn't necessarily have to be a strong singer.

DOGCATCHER (lead), age 16+, must have a loud speaking voice. This is a very funny role. Good comedic timing a plus.

DALMATIAN PUPPIES (featured), ages 5 to 16, are discovered in the fur vault, this is a good role for kids with less experience in theatre. Must be able to bark, smile, and be able to sing in a group.
