Role descrpition:

Steph Masters: Jack’s girlfriend. A remarkably beautiful girl. She loves Jack but can’t deal with him making her feel inferior to him. Beautiful and pleasant voice with the ability to extend easily to the upper register (G3-?Gb5)
(Think Kathy from "Last five years" mixed with Belle)

Hope Morales: A small, peppy, fiery girl. Incredible presence and confidence. A superstar. Very quick wit. Should be believable as Jack’s equal physically and mentally. (G3-?F5)
(Think Mimi from" Rent" crossed with Vanessa from "In The Heights")

Mom: Jack's Mother. A very skilled singer with a wide ranged soulful/pop voice. Very sassy and ironically soulful and comedic. (A3-?A6)

Dad: Jack's father. The foil to Jack's Mother. He is more serious and cut and dry but still very loving. An excellent singer adept at singing in harmony. (D3-?B5)

Catherine: A cosmetically beautiful Prima Dona. Powerful and lyrical legit soprano voice. Is driven by lust. Must sing operatically.
(Think Musetta from La Bohème")

Dr. Chip: Jack’s composition professor. He is frustrated with Jack’s lack of attention to detail. He is very rigid and structured.

Jane: A freshman that is in awe of everything around her. Should be younger and sprightly. Legit Mezzo voice.

Dan: A typical self absorbed Tenor. Strong legit singer.

Vincent: Jack’s accompanist. Secretly loves Jack. Comedic character. Major plus if the actor can actually play piano on a high level.

Bar owner: Non-singing role. Likes Jack and his music, but needs to keep his business going well.

Ensemble: The Ensemble is used throughout the show and is so important to the integrity of the work. Any choral or musical training is a plus. We need as many skilled singers for all 4 voice parts as we can get.
