BENEATHA YOUNGER: Looking for an African American Woman in her early to mid 20’s to play a
woman in her early 20’s. She represents the thoughts of a future generation. She opens her mouth, and
speaks her opinion proudly and unapologetically. It does not matter if others agree or not. She is beautiful
Most importantly,she is a feminist before the word was created. This is the character that is also the
closest representation to Ms. Hansberry.
JOSEPH ASAGAI: Looking for an African American Man in his mid 20’s to early 30’s to play this role.
He is one of Beneatha’s suitors. He is Tall, Dark, Handsome and “other worldy” (he comes from
Africa). He challenges Beneatha on her thoughts, and opinions, and the way that she sees the world in
general. It is never mean or sarcastic, but always stimulating and inviting. He is a respectful young man
who wants to make a difference in the world somehow.
