Auditions Announced for
9th Annual Northwest Idol

ONCE AGAIN WE ARE LOOKING FOR THAT VOICE OF CHOICE.The Torrington Parks and Recreation Department, in cooperation with the Warner Theatre, is proud to announce that it will be hosting its Ninth Northwest Idol Contest.

Registration forms are now available in the Parks and Recreation office located at 153 South Main Street, Torrington CT. You may also register online at

. This year there is one category for ages 15 and up. The number of registrations will be limited, so we encourage you to register early.

Auditions start Saturday, June 7th at 4:00 pm at Coe Park Civic Center, 101 Litchfield Street. Each contestant will have one minute to introduce him or herself and perform acapella. Auditions are closed to the public. This event will be judged by various people involved in the music profession. Approximately 18 contestants will be chosen to move on to the next level of competition. Contestants chosen to move on will be notified by telephone of their status.

The first semifinal round will be held on Saturday June 28th at 7 pm. The second round will be on Saturday July 19th. Semifinals will be held at Coe Park Civic Center beginning at 7:00 pm and the public is invited to attend. Contestants will be expected to perform with the accompaniment of D.J. Vin Avallone. The talent pool will be narrowed down after the semifinal.

The final show will be held at the Warner Theatre on Saturday, August 23rd at 7:00 pm. Casey Mckenna will be the host for this year’s event. Tickets will be available for purchase at the Warner Theatre Box Office after July 1. At the finals all the contestants will perform with a live band and must be available to practice with the band before the event. There will be a top cash prize in the amount of $1,000.00.

Torrington Parks & Recreation is seeking the support of local businesses and organizations to help offset the costs of this spectacular event. Without the assistance of local businesses and organizations, an event of this magnitude would not be possible.
