New Works Development Series nurtures local playwrights, while featuring professional actors, and offering patrons an intimate experience with original work in its infancy.WINE TASTING: Take of on an outing to please your palate as you bask in the aromatic notes of each featured tasting, specially chosen by Sharrott Winery. Guests must be 21 years of age or older to enjoy alcoholic beverages.LIVE PERFORMANCE READING: Each reading features a fun and informative post-performance discussion with the Cast, Director and Playwright.Plays selected for new work development series receive rehearsal with the professional cast and director, providing an opportunity for the playwright to collaborate with other professionals during the development process. Readings are presented script in hand, which allows the playwright to make edits, and develop the work alongside a live audience.THE PLAY: GARY by Bruce GrahamFirst, there was Siri then came Alexa Now theres Gary! Eagle Theatre is at 208 Vine Street, Hammonton, NJ.

Our theatre began as a silent film era theatre and operated from 1914 until 1927 under the owner, Samuel Litke. The theatre became repurposed for use as a church for 15 years. In 1959, a local family bought the property and used it until 2006 as storage for their auto-parts company. In 2006, demolition was planned, but local, devoted residents rallied to save the theatre to ensure downtown revitalization. The Eagle Theatre was reopened as a movie theatre on July 9, 2009, with a screening of Somewhere in Time starring Christopher Reeve. In 2012, the US Department of Agriculture provided more than half a million dollars in loans and grants so that so the nonprofit organization, Eagle Theatre Inc., could purchase the building and for physical improvements including equipment for the stage and ticketing. Friends of Eagle Theatre work with the nonprofit Hammonton Revitalization Corp. to secure the future of this historic theatre.
