Harm Reduction, a new play by Elizabeth Irwin, is part of Vivid Stage's annual Meet the Artist new play reading series, held on Wednesdays in May at the Summit Community Center. The play follows Kayla, a seventeen-year-old in the foster care system navigating her final months of high school, while her foster mother Susan grapples with learning how to parent after sixteen years on the sidelines. Their neighbors, Amanda and Evan, complicate things further with a mix of help, judgment, resentment, and advice. The reading will be followed by a discussion with the playwright, director, and actors, giving the audience a chance to provide feedback on the work in development.
