Bergen Performing Arts Center located at 30 North Van Brunt Street in Englewood, New Jersey presents The English Beat Wednesday, July 23rd 2014 at 8PM. Be sure to reserve tickets to see this ska revivalist group at www.ticketmaster.com or Box Office at 201.227.1030.

Formed in the late 70's, The English Beat hailed from working class, industrial Birmingham England. When The Beat rushed on to the music scene in 1979, they became an overnight sensation and one of the most influential bands of the British 'Two Tone' Ska movement. The Beat is all about inclusion, rather than exclusion, and their music conveys a simple message of love and unity set to a great dance beat. The band crosses over fluidly between soul, reggae, pop and punk, and from these disparate pieces they create an infectious dance rhythm. They've had had their music covered by everyone from The Who to Pearl Jam and they've shared international stages with the likes of David Bowie, The Police, REM, The Clash, The Talking Heads and many others. Co-founded by consummate showman Dave Wakeling on vocals and guitar some 35 years ago, he continues to share his pioneering blend of ska and punk with audiences all over the world.
