West Windsor Arts Center Announces Opening Reception For 2018 WWAC Members Exhibit

West Windsor Arts Center presents local artists' creations of abstract art expressing movement, gesture, improvisation and a sense of exploration with its 2018 Member Exhibit "Abstraction" now on display through April 27.

Juror Carol Cruickshanks selected 32 art works from local artists out of over 139 submissions. Cruickshanks is the Executive Director of New Hope Arts, where she has served since 2011. She has also been an educator and art historian with The College of New Jersey, and an art specialist with Rago Auctions in Lambertville, NJ. She has authored numerous publications on contemporary art and artists of the NJ/PA region and has presented lectures on Modernism, 20th Century Design, curatorial research and evaluating personal property.

For the second year, the WWAC Members Exhibit is able to offer prizes for three works of art that exemplify standards of excellence. This year's recipients are:

Best in Show $100 Prize: Venezia Sestiere Cannarego by Zakia Ahmed

2nd Place $50 Prize: Calligraphy I by Fay Deng

3rd Place WWAC Membership: Wall by M.Teresa Simao

"Abstraction" is on display at the West Windsor Art Center Gallery at 952 Alexander Road (historic Princeton Junction Firehouse), Princeton Junction, NJ 08550. Gallery Hours: Monday through Friday, 10 am-6 pm, and Saturdays, 10 am-4 pm.

An opening reception with the artists will be held Sunday, March 18th, 4 pm-6 pm. All are welcome. Artists will be on hand at the opening to discuss their work. Please visit www.westwindsorartscenter.org for more information.

A related event: the spring production of WWAC's resident theatre company, Pegasus Theatre Project, Bakersfield Mist by Stephen Sachs is set for April 13 through April 22, 2018, with performances Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm.
