After performing across the United States, Canada and Europe, actor/playwright and teacher SUSAN JEREMY returns to New Jersey with her newest play TEACHER IN THE HOUSE, based on Jeremy's experiences with home-bound students. The one-woman show, written with director Mary Fulham, is part of THREE PLAYS IN THREE WEEKS presented by The Theater Project in Maplewood, NJ.

A year ago, Jeremy wowed audiences here with PS 69-A TEACHER GROWS IN BROOKLYN, about a young teacher's baptism by fire in the New York City school system. Her new show focuses on children being homeschooled for a variety of reasons.

TEACHER IN THE HOUSE unfolds like a television crime series with true accounts of touching and comical urban tales of survival. While dealing with the challenges of leading a 7th grade sex education class and overcoming a life threatening illness, the protagonist is drawn to and inspired by teaching children who can't attend school: Ryan, a 7 year-old with ADD; Rebecca, who's waiting for a new kidney, and Angela, a paralyzed teen with a huge smile. Jeremy flawlessly plays over twelve characters in this fast-paced, thought-provoking tale that has audiences both deeply moved and doubled over in laughter. Jeremy's characters are keenly observed and physically portrayed with warmth, candor, and humor. "With a heavy dose of classic New York sarcastic humor, Susan Jeremy tackles heavy hitting topics like disabilities in a stunning performance that had the audience doubled over in their seats" -- Edmonton Sun. Like her other shows, TEACHER IN THE HOUSE is pulled from Jeremy's life. Selections from the show may be viewed on The Theater Project web site: www.thetheaterproject.org.

TEACHER IN THE HOUSE is part of THREE PLAYS IN THREE WEEKS, an entire season of entertainment delivered in less than one month by The Theater Project, the professional theater company at the Burgdorff Center in Maplewood. TEACHER... is followed by FOR WHOM THE SOUTHERN BELLE TOLLS by Christopher Durang, and BUYER AND CELLAR by Jonathan Tolins. Patrons can see all three plays for $45 when they order by September 21; the package allows theatergoers to maximize their entertainment dollars and experience an entire theater season in less than a month.
