PANIC is coming to Leonia, NJ! The Players Guild of Leonia will be presenting an east coast premiere of a musical based on the War of the Worlds radio broadcast, entitled PANIC.

This will be the second production of PANIC. The first , its world premiere, was at the Lamb Theatre in Sioux City, Iowa in 2009. PANIC is written and composed by New York playwright, Stephen Dolginoff. Dolginoff is best known for his Drama Desk nominated, 2005 Off Broadway hit, Thrill Me , the Leopold & Loeb Story, based on the 1924 Thrill Killers.

PANIC takes place in 1938 at the office and studio of The Mercury Theatre Company in NYC and centers around the events leading up to the famous broadcast by then 23 year old Orson Welles and his thirst for fame in Hollywood.The play is inspired by actual events.

PANIC is directed by Linda Wielkotz and musically directed by April Elsasser. Dan Giordano of Leonia appears as Orson Welles and Tim Larsen of Glen Rock portrays his producer. Other cast members are Jonathan McDevitt of Leonia as writer Howard Koch and Michel Puglia of Northvale as Jimmy. Rounding out the cast are Megan Taylor, Susan McDonald, and Dominick DeNucci as members of the company.

Performances: April 29th thru May 15th, 2011. Fridays and Saturdays at 8PM. Sundays at 3PM at The Civil War Drill Hall Theatre, 130 Grand Avenue, Leonia. Tickets are $20/$18 seniors and students.

A reception and question and answer session with the playwright, Stephen Dolginoff, will follow the opening night performance.
