The Maplewood Strollers are proud to present Little Women starting May 2nd at The Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts (10 Durand Road, Maplewood NJ). Little Women is a musical with a book by Allan Knee, lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, and music by Jason Howland.

Based on Louisa May Alcott's classic 1869 semi-autobiographical novel, it focuses on the four March sisters - brassy, tomboy-like, aspiring writer Jo, romantic Meg, pretentious Amy, and kind-hearted Beth - and their beloved Marmee, at home in Concord, Massachusetts while the family patriarch is away serving as a Union Army chaplain during the Civil War. Intercut with the vignettes in which their lives unfold are several recreations of the melodramatic short stories Jo writes in her attic studio. It is a heartfelt story about the importance of family and how life and love changes you. It is a family-friendly musical appropriate for ages 8 and up.

Little Women will run through May 17. Performances are May 2 at 8 PM, May 3 at 8 PM, May 4 at 2 PM, May 9 at 8 PM, May 10 at 8 PM, May 11 at 2 PM, May 16 at 8 PM, and May 17 at 8 PM.

The cast of Little Women features Madison Houck (Jo), Crystal Bennett (Meg), Melissa Cox (Beth), Sarah Mason (Amy), Susan Leone (Marmee), Brandon Arias (Laurie), Judi Gajary (Aunt March), Walter Zimmerman (Mr. Laurence), Eric Parkin (Professor Bhaer), Thomas Courtright (Mr. John Brooke), and Fran Shultz (Mrs. Kirk).
