The Adelphi Orchestra is honored to present its traditional 68th Season Opening Concert, co-sponsored by the Fair Lawn Community Center Theatre in honor of "Discover Jersey Arts Month" Saturday, Oct 30th, 2021 - 2:00 pm in Fairlawn, NJ. Tickets are $25 and are available on Eventbrite

This year's concert "Opera Gala " represents the Adelphi Orchestra's 15th consecutive production celebrating both National Arts and Humanities Month and Discover Jersey Arts. "Opera Gala" showcases flutist virtuoso Sooah Jeon, (First Prize winner of the 2021 Adelphi Orchestra Competition) in Fantasie Brillante for Flute on themes from Carmen. Guest soloists soprano Amy Shoremount-Obra and tenor Theodore Chletsos will sing arias from opera favorites from La Boheme, Un Ballo in Maschera, and Tosca under the baton of Louis Kosma.

The concert has been made possible in part by a grant administered by the Bergen County Department of Parks, Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs from funds granted by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts & The Culture Recovery Fund of the Princeton Area Community Foundation.

By proclamation of Governor Murphy, Discover Jersey Arts Month is an annual celebration, participating in National Arts & Humanities Month each October, designed to encourage all New Jerseyans to explore the arts in their distinctive neighborhoods, and was created by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the ArtPride New Jersey Foundation to commemorate the joy, entertainment and enrichment arts bring to the state's diverse communities. "We began to honor October as Discover Jersey Arts Month as a way to celebrate the often-overlooked economic, educational and civic engagement values that the arts impact in our lives," says Ann Marie Miller, Director of Advocacy & Public Policy of ArtPride New Jersey.

"It's also an excellent opportunity to recognize the contributions of cultural organizations in our region, such as the Adelphi Orchestra, that bring the arts to the forefront of our communities daily."

The Adelphi Orchestra has played a critical role in upholding its Mission of "Music for All" by keeping the music alive during the Covid pandemic with live and live-streamed concerts accessible to Bergen County, and virtually, to audiences both in NJ and throughout the world.
