TTC Offers Cabaret Workshop to Singers, 3/3

The Theater Company of Hoboken (TTC) is offering two Cabaret Workshops for performers of all ages on March 3rd at TTC's Studio C413 or March 17th at Arthouse Productions.

"Part of our mission is to combine professionals, community members, students and children in productions so everyone can learn from each other and benefit from each other's experiences,'" notes Producing Artistic Director David Zimmerman. "And that's why we feel providing a workshop like this is so important," adds Assistant Artistic Director Margaret Leone, "so we can teach what we know to the novice performer and help them get noticed." Both Zimmerman and Leone are the
instructors of this workshop, along with veteran TTC performer and director Jenny Fersch, and have amassed over 35 years of experience in cabaret performance.

The goal of the workshop is to teach performers how to present a song for any singing event and deliver their best performance. Emphasis is placed on phrasing, vocal style, stage presence, song selection and interpretation, while focusing on the emotions built into lyrics to help the singer put their "personal stamp" on the song. Having participated in the workshop, attendees are then given the stage for a one night only performance to show what they have learned and get immediate feedback from a live audience. This is the third season TTC has offered such a workshop.
