THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD Plays Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre, Now thru 10/19

By:
Audiences for the last production of the 2014 Season at the Open Air Theatre have a most important role: they get to vote on how the show will end. This unique experience is part of the musical The Mystery of Edwin Drood scheduled to run at the Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre two weekends. Set to open tonight, October 10, performances continue on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 pm through October 19.

Loosely based on an unfinished mystery by Charles Dickens, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, follows the actors of the Theatre Royal Music Hall as they attempt to complete Dickens' story. The sudden disappearance of Young Edwin Drood throws everyone into a panic with suspicious fingers pointing every which way including at the dashing but villainous John Jasper, Drood's lovely finacée Rosa Bud, opium den owner Princess Puffer and two mysterious siblings Helena and Neville Landless. As the investigation pushes forward, everyone who came into contact with Drood joins the lineup of suspects. With the possibility of a different madcap conclusion at every performance, The Mystery of Edwin Drood is the type of show that theatergoers often see more than once.

The Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood will be performed on Friday, October 10, Saturday, October 11 and Sunday, October 12 at 7:30 pm. The musical returns for an additional weekend of performances on October 17, 18 and 19 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children (ages 12 and under). Tickets can always be purchased at the Open Air Theatre Box Office one half-hour prior to the performance. Group discounts are available.
