State Theatre New Jersey Presents Sir James Galway

State Theatre New Jersey presents Sir James Galway on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at 3pm. Joining Galway in recital is renowned flutist, Lady Jeanne Galway and pianist, Michael McHale. Tickets range from $17.50-$70.

Program includes: D. Overton, Irish Folk Songs ("Spinning Wheel," "She Moved Through the Fair," and "The Star of the County Down); Gaubert, Sonate No. 3; Faure, Morceau de Concours; Faure, Fantasie, Op. 79; Poulenc, Sonata; Harty, In Ireland Fantasy; Doppler, Andante and Rondo, Op. 25 (with Lady Galway); and P. Morlacchi: Il Pastore Svizzero.

From his working-class Belfast roots to gracing the world stage, Sir James Galway's illustrious career boasts over 30 million album sales worldwide, extensive touring, frequent television appearances, and passionate work in music education.

Sir James Galway has made himself a modern musical master, whose virtuosity on the flute is equaled only by his limitless ambitions and vision. Through his extensive touring, over 30 million albums sold, and his frequent international television appearances, Galway has endeared himself to millions worldwide and is a tireless promoter of the arts.

Belfast born, Galway studied in London and Paris before embarking on his orchestral career in such prestigious orchestras such as the Sadlers Wells & Royal Covent Garden Operas, The BBC, Royal Philharmonic, and London Symphony Orchestra, before taking up the coveted position of solo flautist with the Berlin Philharmonic under Herbert von Karajan.

The Galway Flute Academy is the Galway's educational platform, where they share their wisdom and experience with the musical generation of tomorrow. The Academy, which includes daily masterclasses, weekend residencies, and 10-day flute festivals, gives them such joy to be able to change and enhance the lives of flutists of all levels. The BBC commissioned documentary Being James Galway commentated by Jeremy Irons, is already in international circulation, highlighting the magnitude this great artist continues to bring to his fans around the world.
