State Theatre New Jersey Announces 2018-2019 Classical Series: Itzhak Perlman, Renee Fleming, and More

State Theatre New Jersey unveiled its 2018-2019 Classical Series, featuring five fantastic world-renowned performers.

State Theatre New Jersey's Classical Series kicks off on September 16 with acclaimed violinist, Itzhak Perlman, who has been honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for his excellence in recording arts. The series also includes Boston Pops on Tour with the incomparable conductor Keith Lockhart on December 2. Next, one of the world's top youth ensembles, the National Symphony Orchestra of Romania will perform on January 16. The Czech National Symphony Orchestra will then star conductor John Mauceri and Grammy-Award winning soloist Isabel Leonard performing "100 Years of Leonard Bernstein" on February 24. Multi-Award winning Renée Fleming, one of the most acclaimed singers of our time, performs on February 27 The Classical Series will conclude with a Saint Patrick's Day performance from world-renowned Irish flute player Sir James Galway, playing alongside his wife, Lady Jeanne Galway on March 17.

Affectionately known as "America's Orchestra," the Boston Pops has a long history beginning with the establishment of the modern-era Pops by Arthur Fiedler and continuing through the innovations introduced by John Williams and the new-millennium Pops spearheaded by Keith Lockhart. In 2010, the Pops celebrated its 125th anniversary season. Having recently celebrated his 22nd anniversary as Boston Pops Conductor in 2017, Keith Lockhart is the second longest-tenured conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra since its founding in 1885.

Known for bringing new audiences to classical music and opera, Renée has sung not only with Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo, and Andrea Bocelli, but also with Elton John, Paul Simon, Sting, Josh Groban, and Joan Baez. She has hosted a wide variety of television and radio broadcasts, including the Metropolitan Opera's Live in HD series and Live from Lincoln Center. Winner of four Grammy Awards, Renée has sung for momentous occasions from the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony to the Diamond Jubilee Concert for Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace. In 2013, President Obama awarded her America's highest honor for an artist, the National Medal of Arts.
