Skyline Theatre Company (STC) is finishing out its 2009-2010 season with the Pulitzer Prize winning Driving Miss Daisy, May 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th at the Fair Lawn Community Center/George Frey Center for Arts and Recreation in Fair Lawn.

This intimate portrait of a most unlikely pair was called "a total delight" by the NY Daily News when it premiered in New York. The three character play takes place in the deep south and spans the years 1948-1973. We follow the relationship of Miss Daisy Werthan, a southern widow, and her chauffeur Hoke; the roles were beautifully played by Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman in the 1989 film version. This story of friendship and family is both funny and poignant and shows how true love and friendship can exist in even the most unexpected places.

Driving Miss Daisy is directed by Broadway director and STC's Managing Artistic Director, Sam Scalamoni, who served as the Associate Director of Elton John's Lestat and Disney's Beauty and the Beast on Broadway and worldwide. "It is such a pleasure to bring this heartwarming story to our audiences" said Scalamoni, "I am always proud that we produce theatre that is relevant and thought provoking." The creative team also includes lighting design by Jaclyn Klein of Fair Lawn.

The Skyline Theatre Company is Bergen County's newest professional theatre company. STC brings professional performers, designers, and staff from New York City and the surrounding area together to produce an exciting array of musicals and plays. The company is proud of its Artists in Focus program which brings professionals from Broadway and television into the classroom and an apprentice program that trains arts students with professionals while in production. Skyline is an associate member of the prestigious New Jersey Theatre Alliance. The STC board is comprised of a diverse group of artists, business people and educators who are committed to bring high quality theatre and programs to Bergen County. STC will be announcing their 2010-2011 season soon.
