Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey Announces New Ticket Programs

By:

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey is proud to announce new ticket price programs for young patrons for the upcoming 2016 season. Thanks to a generous grant from the National Endowment of the Arts, The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey will be able to offer young patrons, aged 18 and under, free tickets to this summer's production of the wild, rambunctious comedy The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] at the company's Outdoor Stage.

Back by popular demand, three wild and crazy actors will take you on an irreverent, madcap romp through Shakespeare's entire canon. Featuring some new surprises since the company's last production of the play in 2008, this is a terrific show to introduce Shakespeare to young people, and a hilarious spoof that appeals to audiences of all ages - from Bardophobes to Bardophiles. As always, picnicking under the stars with family and friends makes for a delightful evening where art, nature and the ancient tradition of outdoor theatre all come together. The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised] opens June 22 under the direction of Jeffrey M. Bender.

For the Main Stage productions, young patrons aged 30 and under, will be able to purchase tickets for the low price of $30 per seat for all shows, excluding opening nights, tickets subject to availability. The 30 Under 30 Program makes theatre going affordable for younger adult audiences and makes The Shakespeare Theatre's renowned productions accessible for everyone.

Artistic Director Bonnie J. Monte said, "We are so thrilled to be offering these two programs in 2016. Free tickets for kids 18 and under at our Outdoor Stage is a perfect way to celebrate that stage's 15th anniversary, and we hope that the NEA's very generous grant will allow us to make this a permanent offering going forward. The 30 Under 30 program is equally exciting and we hope it's a real enticement for young professionals, singles, and couples to check out a season of work that we think is particularly provocative, intriguing and compelling for audiences in their 20's and 30's. I hope many young patrons take advantage of this new ticket price offer."

Both programs are designed to attract more young audiences to the Theatre and promote classic works for young patrons. One of the leading Shakespeare theatres in the nation, serving approximately 100,000 adults and children annually, The Shakespeare Theatre is New Jersey's largest professional theatre company dedicated solely to Shakespeare's canon and other world classics. Through its distinguished productions and education programs, the company strives to illuminate the universal and lasting relevance of the classics for contemporary audiences.
