Ritz Theatre Presents HAIRSPRAY, 1/6-2/5
The Ritz Theatre Company opens its 2011, 26th Season with the award winning Broadway musical "Hairspray" running January 6 through February 5 at the historic Ritz Theatre, 915 White Horse Pike, Arts District, Haddon Township, NJ.
Whoever said "Fun, fun...too much is none!" never spent an evening with the cast of HAIRSPRAY! Winner of eight Tony Awards and over 2,500 performances on Broadway... this sweet and wild, downtown, bubble-gum musical is ready to grace the Ritz stage! It all begins when Tracy Turnblad achieves her dream of becoming a regular on the Corny Collins Dance Show. Now a teen hero, she starts using her fame to launch a campaign to integrate the show and speak out for the social causes she believes in. With music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Scott Wittman, you simply can't go wrong!
Ritz Theatre Producing Artistic Director, Bruce A. Curless, stars as Edna Turnblad, the role originally played by Divine and reprised by John Travolta in the hit film. Melissa Tepperman appears as the outspoken Tracy Turnblad. Ms. Tepperman recently appeared in the film Mayor Cupcake with Lea Thompson. Mett Reher of Philadelphia plays Corny Collins. Matt played Leo Bloom in the Ritz's "The Producers."
