ReVision Theatre Moves to Greek Orthodox Church for 5th Anniversary Season, Asbury Park

By:

In its tradition of providing professional entertainment in unique venues, ReVision Theatre is proud to announce that it will be moving to 700 Grand Avenue, Asbury Park, the former site of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church for its 2012 5th Anniversary Season.

The St. George Church was built in 1949 by the Greek Orthodox community of Asbury Park after celebrating their liturgy in the Asbury Park Library basement for 20 years prior. The Greek Orthodox community grew so much in the past 60 years and on April 1, 2012, the St. George Church community moved to their new church and facilities in Ocean Township, leaving the historic building vacant. Now the former church, a year round venue with ventilation, rest rooms and other amenities, will be home to ReVision Theatre, providing fans with another season of music and drama presented in the Company’s own unique way.

ReVision are moving from Madison Marquette's Carousel House, which continues to be their partner in the arts.

“The Saint George is magnificent,” Artistic Director, Bob Angelini beamed. “I’m sure our theatre patrons will be very happy with the history, ambiance and comforts of our new location. The “Theatre at St. George” will be a great new venue. We are grateful to the St. George Church community for investing in ReVision Theatre.”

Angelini, who co-directed ReVision’s sold-out holiday show, A Christmas Survival Guide, and oversees the monthly Cabaret series, will direct the 2012 season. The 5th anniversary season will take place on the main stage at the "Theatre at St. George" as well as other partner venues throughout Asbury Park, including the Paramount Theatre.

ReVision Theatre will be hosting a members and sponsors Season Kickoff Party on Thursday June 14th at St. George Church at 7:30 PM where we will unveil our new season which includes a 5th anniversary retrospective concert, a musical and for the first time in their history in Asbury Park, a play. They will continue their monthly Cabarets as well as their Readings from Asbury Park throughout 2012. On June 14th, ReVision Theatre will begin selling season subscriptions at a members-only discount price. Admission for the Season Kickoff Party is free for members, donors and sponsors. To obtain a membership visit their website www.revisiontheatre.org or call them at (732) 455-3059.
