The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra Board of Trustees today announced the departure of NJSO President & CEO André Gremillet. Gremillet has been appointed Managing Director of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) in Australia; he will leave the NJSO in September. Gremillet became President & CEO of the NJSO in January 2007.

During Gremillet’s tenure, the Orchestra successfully engaged a new Music Director, Jacques Lacombe, who succeeded Neeme Järvi and whose artistic leadership has significantly raised the profile of the Orchestra. The NJSO recently extended Lacombe’s contract until 2016. The NJSO also made a critically acclaimed return to Carnegie Hall as part of the 2012 Spring for Music Festival and recently closed its Comprehensive Campaign—“An Incomparable Sound. A Cultural Treasure.”—a major fundraising initiative that raised more than $35 million in support of the Orchestra, far exceeding the campaign’s $32 million goal.
