Rude Frenchmen, cancan dancers, the Lady of the Lake and her Laker Girls, killer rabbits, catapulting cows and the somwhat odd knights who say "ni" are just part of the adventures and dangers awaiting King Arthur and his knights of the very, very, very, round table in Monty Python's Spamalot at the Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre through Sunday, July 26. Performances are Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 pm.

Lovingly ripped off from the motion picture "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," Monty Python's Spamalot is a recent Broadway hit and irreverent parody of the Arthurian legend. It was nominated for 14 Tony Awards, winning three including Best New Musical for 2005. The story of Monty Python's Spamalot starts in 932 A.D. in England where King Arthur and his servant Patsy set off to recruit men to join his Round Table and embark on a quest for the Holy Grail. With music and lyrics by the Grammy-Award winning team of Eric Idle and John Du Prez, show-stopping musical numbers include "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" and "Find Your Grail."

Starring in the Open Air Theatre production of Monty Python's Spamalot is David Whiteman as King Arthur. Open Air audiences know David from the numerous leading roles he has played at the outdoor venue over the past 5 seasons. He has been seen as Man in Chair in The Drowsy Chaperone, Frankenstein's Monster in Young Frankenstein and most recently wrapped up a run as Georges in this season's production of La Cage aux Folles. Sir Lancelot is portrayed by Erik Snyder. Erik has been a staple at the Open Air Theatre over the years and earlier this season played Kyle the UPS Guy in Legally Blonde the Musical. Monty Python's Spamalot is directed and choreographed by Open Air Theatre Artistic Director, Louis Palena, who also appears in the production as Prince Herbert and the Historian.

The Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre production of Monty Python's Spamalot will be performed on Friday, July 17, Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19 at 7:30 pm. The show returns for an additional weekend of shows with 7:30 pm performances on July 24, 25 and 26. Tickets to shows at the Open Air Theatre may be purchased at the Box Office one half hour prior to any performance. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children (ages 12 and under) and $12 for seniors (ages 65 and older.)
