On November 12, McCarter Theatre Center will join with NJIT's Theatre Arts and Technology Program (offered jointly with Rutgers University-Newark) to present a panel discussion of their exciting work to Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools (MCVTS) theater students, and students at NJIT and Rutgers-Newark. Presenters will include McCarter-associated design professionals and NJIT faculty members.

The panel will delve into STEAM - the 21st-century creativity arising from the interaction of art with the STEM disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in a professional theater environment. Those attending will be invited to take part in a discussion of how STEAM can inspire theatrical storytellers the way Charles Darwin inspired Henrik Ibsen and James Gleick inspired Tom Stoppard.
This event is free and open to the public.

All are invited to attend discussion on November 12 on the Campus of NJIT, in Weston Lecture Hall I from 2-4p.m.

The panel moderator will be Louis Wells, NJIT university lecturer and artistic coordinator for the joint NJIT/Rutgers-Newark theatre program.
The panelists include:

Eamonn Farrell, director/media designer of Anonymous Ensemble (AnEn), designer, cutting-edge projections and video.

Simon Garnier, assistant professor of biology, NJIT College of Science and Liberal Arts.

Karin Graybash, freelance sound designer and sound engineer whose focus is design for theater and dance with expertise in soundscapes, music design and research, system design, sound reinforcement and live musicals.

Andrew Klobucar, associate professor, Communication and Media Program, NJIT College of Science and Liberal Arts.

David Rothenberg, professor of philosophy and music, NJIT College of Science and Liberal Arts.

Brian Tovar, lighting designer with credits that include Goodspeed Opera House, Signature Theatre, Denver Center Theatre, Two River Theatre, Northern Stage and ReVision Theatre.

Augustus Wendell, coordinator of digital design, NJIT College of Architecture and Design.

Andrzej Zarzycki, associate professor, digital design, NJIT College of Architecture and Design.
