beyondMUSIC presents Music Speaks.  Music Speaks is an early childhood music program that provides developmentally appropriate music for infants, toddlers, and pre-school children, ages 0 through 4 1/2 years old. The music program uses a mix of traditional and contemporary songs with a world beat bringing out the innate musical nature of young children. Parents interact with their children and live music in sessions aimed at expanding creativity, bonding, and the proven cognitive development gained by introducing children to music at a young age.

"We are pleased to offer this important new program aimed at pre-K music enrichment" said Executive Director David Rodriguez "at this time when budget cuts have eliminated access to arts education for many, the needs have never been greater to create opportunities that enrich and are accessible to our young people. We thank the teachers, artists, parents and donors who have made this program a reality."

Wendy Bain has been selected to run Music Speaks at bergenPAC and brings with her over a decade of direct experience in arts education for children.

The Summer Program begins Tuesday, June 28th and runs for 7 weeks, ending the week of August 9th and the Fall Program beings Tuesday September 13th. The classes run for 45 minutes, and are designed to introduce musically driven activities such as chants, finger plays, and small and large movements using a variety of age appropriate musical instruments. The classes allow children and their parents/caregivers to explore, learn and discover the wonders and benefits of music!

The theater brought together musical volunteers including Broadway vocalist, Kelli Agresta as well as side men from New Jersey based bands including Bon Jovi and Southside Johnny who all volunteered their time to create the unique music CD that will be given out to enrolled little ones.

Music Speaks is part of bergenPAC's Beyond Education program, offering arts instruction to over 30,000 young people throughout northern New Jersey each year. Through this program, world class artists offer opportunities for master classes, performance and enrichment. Scholarships allow this program, like all other education programs at bergenPAC, to ensure no child is turned away because of an inability to pay.
