MTM Players at Post 455 Presents LOVE, SEX, AND THE I.R.S. - a New Idea for Fundraising for the American Legion Image

Many American Legion posts throughout the country hold fundraisers. Bingo, dances, dinners, stand-up comedy and tricky tray auctions are among the more popular choices for raising funds for veterans, their families and the community. At McKaig-Test-Mullen American Legion Post 455 in New Egypt, NJ (Ocean County), they have included theater as an annual way to raise money!

The MTM Players started four years ago with interactive murder mysteries and last year produced their first straight play, "12 Angry Jurors". The production team is helmed by New Egypt resident/actor/director Rob Michael Lasky -- a member of the Sons of the American Legion there. Often, he casts legion family members in the shows. In two of the shows, the sitting Post Commander had cameos!

This year, The MTM Players at Post 455 brings a hilarious comedy to the post hall -- "Love, Sex, and the I.R.S." -- penned by the local comedy team of Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore presented by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, INC. directed by Rob Michael Lasky.

SYNOPSIS: Jon Trachtman and Leslie Arthur are out of work musicians who room together in New York City. To save money, Jon has been filing tax returns listing the pair as a married couple. The day of reckoning comes when the Internal Revenue Service informs the "couple" they're going to be investigated. Leslie masquerades as a housewife, aided by Jon's fiancee, Kate. Complicating matters further Leslie and Kate are having an affair behind Jon's back, Jon's mother drops in unexpectedly to meet her son's fiancee, and Leslie's ex girlfriend shows up demanding to know why Leslie has changed and won't see her anymore. Like a cross between I Love Lucy, Three's Company and Some Like it Hot!

The dates are Friday, June 14, 2017 at 7PM. Saturday, June 15th and 22nd, 2017 at 7PM. Sundays, June 16th and 23rd, 2017 at 1PM.

Tickets: $20 adults 13 and over. (Adult themes - parental discretion advised) $18 for Seniors, Active and Retired Military (must show I.D. at door). All shows include dessert.

You can purchase general admission tickets in advance with credit card or PayPal at our website: http://www.mtmplayers.org or call the box office at: 1-800-838-3006 24/7 or you can purchase at the door (cash only). For any questions, please contact the production team at: lsirs@mtmplayers.org.
