Doctor Henry Jekyll wages a fierce battle with his alter-ego, Edward Hyde, in the haunting musical, "Jekyll and Hyde," at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre. Presented by Cheng/Ferrara Productions, dates and show times are: Fridays, Sept. 18 and 25 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Sept. 19 and 26 at 8 pm.; and Sundays, Sept. 20 and 27 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus at 1200 Old Trenton Road. A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening night performance on Sept. 18.

Based on the 1886 tale by Robert Louis Stevenson, "Jekyll and Hyde" explores man's dual capacity for both good and evil. With the intention of purifying his good side from his bad, the well-liked and respectable Dr. Jekyll creates a potion that unleashes the sinister, depraved Mr. Hyde. At ever increasing risk, Jekyll continues his ghastly foray into the darkest corners of human nature. Which of his personalities will emerge victorious? With music by Frank Wildhorn and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, the show opened on Broadway in 1997 and ran until 2001, and is the longest running show in the history of the Plymouth Theatre.

Starring in "Jekyll and Hyde" are: Sean Downing of Mt. Laurel as Jekyll/Hyde; Meera Mohan of Plainsboro as Lucy Harris; and Michaela Tomcho of Astoria, NY, as Emma Carew. Also featured are: John Bergeron of Pennington as Simon Stride; Tom Bessellieu of Lawrenceville as Sir Danvers Carew; Kyrus Westcott of Hamilton as General Lord Glossop; Paul Lasky of New Egypt as John Utterson; Justin Reamy of Princeton as Sir Archibald Proops; Aimee Robidoux of Bucks County, Pa., as Nellie; Jerry Tower of Erial as Lord Savage; and Timothy Walton of Easton, Pa., as the Bishop of Basingstoke Spider. Appearing as Red Rat Girls are Kristin Carfora of Ewing, Nicole Farina-Machin of Robbinsville, Hilary Goldman of Princeton, and Cathryn Hardy of Matawan.

Tickets for "Jekyll and Hyde" are $16 for adults, $14 for seniors, and $12 for students and children. Free parking is available next to the theater.
