L!VE Asbury Park has announced its upcoming production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Chris Hall (Hedwig) and Kendal Hartse (Yitzhak) have signed on as the leads along side musicians Michael Thomas Murray, Mike Preen and Steve Kelly. Hedwig will run June 21, 22 and 23rd for five live performances at The Press Room, located at 610 Bangs Avenue in downtown Asbury Park.

The critically acclaimed Off-Broadway rock theatre hit, Hedwig and The Angry Inch, written by John
Cameron Mitchell and Steven Trask, tells the story of an ‘internationally ignored’ rock singer, Hedwig, and her search for stardom and love. This production of Hedwig presented by L!VE Asbury Park is set to be directed by Carlos Armesto, with choeography by Elisabetta Spuria and musical direction by Michael Thomas Murray. Audiences may recall Armesto, Brooks, Spuria and Murray as creatives from such acclaimed shows as Spring Awakening, Kingdom, The Who’s Tommy, and The Rocky Horror Show at The Carousel House on the boardwalk in Asbury Park.

There are five Hedwig performances, and ticket buyers can choose to attend a seated performance or a “standing room only” midnight rock show. Performances are Thursday June 21 at 9 pm (seated), Friday June 22 at 8 pm (seated), the night of Friday June 22 at midnight (standing room only), Saturday June 23 at 8 pm (seated), and the night of Saturday June 23 at midnight (standing room only). Also included with ticket purchase is a pre-show cocktail hour.
