Get your holidays rockin' at A Very Merry Doo Wop Spectacular at the Keswick Theatre on Saturday, December 4th.
Five of the greatest rock & roll acts will perform in this spectacular event headlined by Herb Reed's Platters. Also scheduled to appear are: The Legendary Teenagers, The Capris, The Knockouts, and The Bobbettes.Rock and Roll inductees Herb Reed's Platters have recorded nearly 400 songs and sold over 80 million records, including number 1 hits: "The Great Pretender", "My Prayer' and "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes". The group appeared in the first major motion picture based around rock and roll, Rock Around the Clock, and were also the only act to have three songs included on the American Graffiti soundtrack. The Platters helped launch doo wop music and influenced generations of vocal groups with their harmonies and arrangements. Launched into instant stardom by the success of "Why Do Fools Fall in Love?", which now stands as one of the key records by which the doo-wop style is defined and remembered, The Legendary Teenagers suddenly found themselves in movies and on package tours at home and overseas. In 1956 and '57, five other singles made the R&B Top Ten - including "The ABC's of Love".Videos
