Julie Benko Joins Princeton Festival Lineup for AMERICAN FANFARE Concert
The FUNNY GIRL and RAGTIME star will perform with the Princeton Symphony Orchestra.
Julie Benko will perform with the Princeton Symphony Orchestra as part of the Princeton Festival’s AMERICAN FANFARE concert in Princeton, New Jersey.
Benko is known for her performance as Fanny Brice in the Broadway revival of Funny Girl, earning the Dorothy Loudon Award and recognition as a New York Times “Breakout Star.” She most recently returned to Broadway as Emma Goldman in the revival of Ragtime at Lincoln Center.
Her Broadway credits also include Harmony, Fiddler on the Roof, and Les Misérables, as well as the national tour of Spring Awakening. Regional credits include My Fair Lady, Jane Eyre, Once, Guys and Dolls, Our Town, and Rags.
Benko recently made her film debut in the independent feature “Caravan” and has released four studio albums with pianist Jason Yeager. Her latest album, Euphonic Gumbo, has been released on Club44 Records and features music inspired by New Orleans.
In addition to her performance work, Benko is also a playwright. Her full-length play Down the Line was named a semifinalist for the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center’s National Playwright Conference and is currently in development. She holds an MFA in Acting from NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
