Easy Lynne to Offer Free Performance of TOM SAWYER, DETECTIVE

Tom Sawyer, his Aunt Polly, and Huckleberry Finn leave their St. Petersburg, Missouri home to pay a visit to Polly's sister, Sally and her husband Silas on their farm in Arkansas. On this trip, Tom and Huck encounter thievery, a dead body and possibly the wrong man being accused of murder. Leave it to Tom to figure it all out and save the day in "Tom Sawyer, Detective."

East Lynne Theater Company's much anticipated Student Workshop Production is back!

After 30 hours of rehearsal covering ten days, twelve students, ages 10-15, will perform "Tom Sawyer, Detective," based on the tale by Mark Twain at The First Presbyterian Church of Cape May, 500 Hughes St., where the company is in residence. The date is Tuesday, July 7, at 8:00 p.m. This marks ELTC's 9th Summer Student Workshop Production, and the past eight years it's been standing room only. Admission is free and families are welcome.

Directing the production is Sally Bingham, who also adapted "Tom Sawyer, Detective." She has just completed her third year as ELTC's artist-in-residence for the Wildwood after-school program, and headed up the Summer Student Workshop for the last two years. Assisting, is Jared Aronoff, ELTC's production assistant, who attends Temple University. Also on hand will be ELTC's artistic director Gayle Stahlhuth and technical director Lee O'Connor.

For almost fifty years, beginning as a young reporter on the western frontier, Twain used the weapon of laughter to assault injustice and inequity wherever he found them. His writings contain wisdom and insights that are as fresh now as they were over hundred years ago. On the mainstage from July 29-September 5, ELTC will present a world premiere adaptation of "Huckleberry Finn."

Meanwhile, ELTC's "Mr. Lincoln," written by Herbert Mitgang, starring Tom Byrn, and directed by Stahlhuth, continues on ELTC's mainstage through July 25, every Wednesday through Saturday at 8:30 p.m., except there is no show on July 4 and an added show on Sunday, July 5.
