East Lynne Theater Company presents an ASL Performance of DICTATOR, 8/27
By: Lauren Wolman
On Friday, August 27 at 8:30p.m., there will be an American Sign Language Interpretation of "The Dictator," produced by the Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company. Over sixty-five years before Woody Allen's film, "Bananas," there was Richard Harding Davis's comedy about a country in Central America where you never knew who is in charge - and whether or not you'd live until lunchtime. The delightful cast of ten has been praised by newspapers and audiences alike.
The theatrical ASL interpreters are Kathy Filippo and Gina Lanza, who have performed many times for ELTC. The process involves them seeing the production at least once, plus going over the script several times to figure out who will interpret which roles, and in many cases, come up with signage for unusual names and words. Tickets are $28 general admission; $23 for seniors and those with disabilities and theirsupport companions; and $13 for full-time students. Children ages 12 and under are always
free. The location is The First Presbyterian Church, 500 Hughes St., Cape May, where the company is in residence. "The Dictator" runs every Wednesday through Saturday through September 4 only. For information and reservations, call 609-884-5898 or visit www.eastlynnetheater.org. To make a reservation using a credit card, call 866-280-9211.
