By:

The Downtown Players, part of Lambertville, NJ's Downtown Performing Arts Center, are gearing up for the world premiere of Legally Blonde The Musical, Jr. Set for two performances, the brand new musical based on the hit Broadway show and movie will be performed on Saturday, February 9 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, February 10 at 3 pm at the South Hunterdon Regional High School Theatre located at 301 Mount Airy-Harbourton Road in Lambertville, NJ.

With book by Heather Hach and music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin, Legally Blonde The Musical, Jr. is a new, abbreviated version of Broadway's recent hit, Legally Blonde The Musical. The story centers on the character of Elle Woods, a girl who appears to have it all. When her life is turned upside-down after getting dumped by her boyfriend she decides to get serious about her life and attends Harvard Law in an effort to win him back. She struggles with her peers and professors but along the way makes lifelong friends and realizes her potential ultimately setting out to prove herself to the world.

The Downtown Performing Art Center's production of this "Junior" version of Legally Blonde is a pilot production officially licensed by Music Theatre International (MTI). MTI, the New York theatrical licensing agency holding the performance rights to this show, specifically chose Lambertville, NJ's Downtown PAC as the first group to perform this show.

After the MTI announcement, Ginny Brennan, Downtown PAC owner and producing director stated, "We are thrilled to be the first theatrical company to produce this brand new musical and the actors and actresses performing in this show are gaining the experience of mounting a totally new production which doesn't often happen on a regional level."

The Downtown Performing Art Center's production of Legally Blonde The Musical, Jr. will be performed on Saturday, February 9 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, February 10 at 3 pm at the South Hunterdon Regional High School Theatre located at 301 Mount Airy-Harbourton Road in Lambertville, NJ. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students (age 16 and under) and can be purchased at the door prior to each performance.
