The New Jersey Repertory Company, located at 179 Broadway in Long Branch, is proud to present the New Jersey premiere of Carter W. Lewis' complex and gripping comic-thriller "Evie's Waltz", June 18 thru July 26.

Clay and Gloria Matthews are living every parents' nightmare. Their son Danny and his girlfriend Evie have been suspended from school. As they prepare a cordial barbeque in anticipation of a meeting with Evie's mother, they struggle to figure out how to deal with their difficult predicament. Clay is the ever-forgiving dad, while Gloria is ready to disown Danny for what she considers to be the last straw in a long string of inappropriate behavior that has left her embittered.

When Evie turns up instead of her mom the tables are turned. During the course of the afternoon, Gloria and Clay begin to realize how little they know about their son, and as secrets are revealed and pressures start to mount, their backyard picnic turns into an explosive, high-stakes game of cat-and-mouse.

"Evie's Waltz" is a profoundly moving play that takes an unflinching look at the daunting challenges of parenting in an environment where intense peer pressure can drive teenagers searching for their identity into a dangerous state of alienation. It is a cautionary tale where a modern day Romeo and Juliet are pitted against what they perceive to be a society that has rejected them.

Directed by NJ Rep's Artistic Director Suzanne Barabas, "Evie's Waltz" stars Warren Kelley (Clay), Kate Kenney (Evie) and Andrea Gallo (Gloria).
