Cape May Stage to Present THE SANTALAND DIARIES, 11/29-12/28

By:

Cape May Stage and Congress Hall are teaming up to present a cheeky and uproarious look at the darker side of the holiday season.

David Sedaris' The Santaland Diaries is the tale of what happens when a young man, struggling in New York City takes a job as a Christmas elf at Macy's. This wildly funny show offers a sardonic and witty look at the trials and tribulations he must endure, including elf training, bad Santas, abusive customers, and the extreme humiliation of a job as an elf. An honest look at the consumerized world's interpretation of the meaning of Christmas, The Santaland Diaries is a hilarious one-man show meant for mature elves only.

Back by popular demand, this irreverent account of Christmas horrors comes to life through actor Brady Adair. He has performed a number of roles at a number of theatres across the country with his most recent endeavors being Whale Song and with Tongue in Cheek Theater as well as developing the role of Julian for a 2015 production of the new play Wigfield, based on the satirical novel of the same name.

A talented production team assists Adair in these holiday hijinks, including Producing Artistic Director Roy Steinberg (Other Desert Cities, Mistakes Were Made) in the role of Director; Kayla Iorio as Stage Manager, Patrick Mathis as Sound Designer, Cyrus Newitt as Lighting Designer, and Leigh Taylor Patton as Costume Designer.

The Santaland Diaries will run from Saturday, November 29 to Sunday, December 30 in the Harrison Room at Congress Hall located at 200 Congress Place in downtown Cape May. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights and at 3 p.m. Sunday afternoons. Tickets are $25 for general admission. There is the option for 'Dinner & a Show' at The Blue Pig Tavern Thursday through Saturday night for $59, or a 'Lunch & a Show' option at The Blue Pig Tavern on Sunday afternoon for $39. General admission tickets are available for Thursday and Sunday performances. Performances have been added on Tuesday Dec. 30 and Wednesday Dec. 31 at 7:00 p.m. Advance reservations for Friday and Saturday night are 'Dinner & a Show' only until 4 p.m. the day of when 'stand-by' tickets will become available at the general admission price.
