Cape May Stage Presents TIME STANDS STILL, Beginning 9/12

From Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Donald Margulies comes Cape May Stage's fall production, "Time Stands Still", described as "a moving and often hilarious story of relationships, mid-life crises, and the ties of friendship." Directed by Artistic Director Roy Steinberg, this Tony-nominated play previews on Wednesday, September 12 and officially opens Thursday, September 13, running Wednesdays through Saturdays 8 p.m. with matinees on Sundays at 3 p.m. through October 13 at Cape May Stage's Robert Shackleton Playhouse.

For photojournalist Sarah Goodwin, happiness has been rushing from hotspot to hotspot, capturing images of global conflict. But after an accident, she's forced to return home and settle into a more "normal" domestic life with her journalist boyfriend, James. Is shifting one's focus off the problems of the world and onto the good in our lives, an act of bravery or cowardice? Praised by The New York Times as a powerful drama that "crackles with bright wit and intelligence," this surprisingly funny play prompts poignant questions about responsibility – to ourselves, to our loved ones, and to the world.

 

The cast of "Time Stands Still" features Sandy York (NY: "Things as They Are", "China Doll") as Sarah and Osborn Focht (Broadway: Paul Simon's "The Capeman") as James. NY-based actress Maggie McDowell ("The Taming of the Shrew", "A Delicate Balance" and Jonathan Brody (Broadway: "Spamalot") complete the cast as Sarah and James' colleagues and friends, Mandy and Richard.

 

An experienced production team joins the cast including Scenic and Lighting Designer Shawn Fisher, Costume Designer Michele Sinacore, and Sound Designer Benjamin Loverin.

 

"Time Stands Still" will run from Thursday, September 13 to Saturday, October 13, Wednesdays through Saturdays 8 p.m. with matinees on Sundays at 3 p.m. at the Robert Shackleton Playhouse located at 405 Lafayette Street in downtown Cape May.  Tickets are $35 adults, $30 seniors (62+), and $15 students.  Wednesday, September 12 is a Half-Price Preview Night with half-price tickets for all; Friday, September 28 is a Half-Price Senior night, with half price tickets for Seniors 62+.
