Broadway Comes To Red Bank: Clay Thomson To Lead Master Class At Phoenix Productions

Phoenix Productions, a non-profit theatre company in Red Bank, NJ welcomes Broadway star Clay Thomson as he leads Phoenix's Newsies Themed School Holiday Master Class on January 15th (Martin Luther King Day).

This One Day Master Class runs from 9:00am-4:00pm and focuses on the Broadway musical Newsies. Students will learn scenes, choreography, and songs including full production numbers directly from Newsies with our talented staff featuring guest teaching artist Clay Thomson (Broadway Cast of Newsies, Matilda). Students will be developing their triple threat skill-set while having a fun musical filled day with friends! This Master Class also includes and mini performance for family and friends at the end of the day as well as a group photo and autograph session with Clay Thomson. Furthermore, there is a 1pm-3pm Teen/Adult Class option built into the day for advanced, older teens (Ages 16 and up ONLY) and adults who would like to participate in a condensed version of the All Day Newsies Master Class Event.

Clay Thomson is a seasoned Broadway performer who has not only performed on Broadway in the cast of Newsies (Spot Colon), but also in the casts Matilda (Michael Wormwood), and the Broadway National Tours of Wicked (Chistery), West Side Story (A-rab) and Oliver. Other theater credits include: New York City Center Encores, Carnegie Hall, the MUNY, and Paper Mill Playhouse. TV credits include: Saturday Night Live, The TONY Awards, MACYS Thanksgiving Day Parade, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Good Morning America, The Late Show with David Letterman, The View, Good Afternoon America, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and more. Phoenix's School Holiday Master Classes are part of the Rising Star Academy, an education initiative dedicated to the idea that Every Performer Shines! Whether a student seeks to develop a rewarding amateur interest or wishes to develop professional skills in performing, there will be programming to assist in finding a creative home. The Rising Star Academy is aligned with the National and State Core Arts Educational Standards in the belief that young performers should be exposed to An understanding of the important role of theatre, dance and music in society; A solid technical training in performance skills and production development and A wide range of performing opportunities to showcase their unfolding talents. From the Golden Era of traditional musical theatre, to cutting edge contemporary musicals like Broadway's Hamilton, our students and future performers will learn to appreciate a rich landscape of performing arts.

Registration is now open for Newsies Themed School Holiday Master Class, with an "early bird" registration option for both full day course for ages 7-17, and the special course for ages 16+ (teens and adults.)
