To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the first Blossoms Art Exhibit in 2003, the YCS special education schools selected the theme - "When words fail art speaks." The artwork on display at the Bergen Performing Art Center in Englewood from May 2 through May 27th promises to speak volumes to the eye and heart with more than 40 pieces of art in an eclectic range of mediums.

The artwork of students in grades K-12 from four YCS schools displays a wealth of talent in a variety of materials that includes clay, needle point, rock art, Japanese Anime and wire sculptures, in addition to more traditional watercolor paintings, chalk pastels and pencil drawings inspired by TEd Harrison and Matisse.

On Saturday, May 25th the YCS Education Division will close the exhibit with an awards presentation ceremony hosted by acclaimed sculptor and poster artist Sterling Brown.

Among Brown's most famous works is a statue of the fallen firefighters of 9/ 11 that he designed for the New York City Fire Department and a life size statue of the black Virgin Mary with baby Jesus commissioned by the Archdiocese of Newark.

The awards presentation will be held in the main lobby of the Bergen PAC from 12:15 - 1 pm. (Visitors can begin viewing the artwork in the mezzanine at 11 am). There will be several musical performances and student videos in the PAC Cabaret. Refreshments will be served. Attendance is complimentary and open to the public.
