Barrington Stage Adds New Musical A LITTLE MORE ALIVE & ENGAGEMENTS World Premiere to 2015 Season

By:

Barrington Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, announces additions to its 2015 season schedule.

BSC's acclaimed Musical Theatre Lab, overseen by Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Artistic Producer William Finn, will present Nick Blaemire's new musical A Little More Alive, from July 17-August 8 on the St. Germain Stage.

Directed by Tony nominee Sheryl Kaller (Next Fall, Mothers and Sons), A Little More Alive features book, music and lyrics by actor and writer Nick Blaemire (Glory Days).

In this heartfelt and original folk-pop musical, two estranged brothers reunite at their childhood home after their mother's funeral. An unexpected revelation distorts every memory they have as they uncover secrets that had been hiding in plain sight their whole lives, Nate and Jeremy find that no one is exempt from the grey area between right and wrong.

Produced in 2014 at Kansas City Repertory Theatre, A Little More Alive was called a "touching, original story by one of America's most exciting young playwrights... imbued with undeniable human warmth," by the Kansas City Star.

A Little More Alive is sponsored by Judith Goldsmith & Carrie and David Schulman and sponsored in part by Drs. Judith and Martin Bloomfield.

Next on the St. Germain Stage is the world premiere comedy Engagements by Lucy Teitler, directed by Louisa Proske from August 13 - 30.

Engagements takes place one summer in and around Boston and tells the story of Lauren, a bright, single Millennial, who has to make some major decisions in the midst of an unending round of engagement parties.

Lucy Teitler is a contributing writer at Motherboard, the tech section of VICE Media. Her full-length play, Engagements, received a workshop production at the Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York in March. She recently published "Bakersfield" her first (fiction) story. Lucy Teitler is a contributing writer at VICE. Her work has also appeared in the New York Observer, New York Magazine, and (s)zine.

Louisa Proske is a director of classics, new plays, and opera. Originally from Berlin, she is now based in New York City and holds a Master of Fine Arts in Directing from Yale School of Drama. She is the Co-Artistic Director of Heartbeat Opera.

Barrington Stage Company's St. Germain Stage is located at the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center, 36 Linden Street in Pittsfield, MA. Ticket prices start at $20. For ticket and performance information, call the BSC Box Office at (413) 236-8888 or visitwww.barringtonstageco.org.
